A Senior BI Analyst is urgently needed to help a large European Institution on the migration of their existing SAS BI environment to Microsoft Power BI (data stores, ETLs, BI Objects, Reports).

About this IT position

European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) is currently migrating all their BI environment previously in SAS to Power BI. A Senior BI Analyst is urgently needed to help the long term project of migration (data stores, ETLs, BI Objects, Reports).

The IT challenge

Lead the requirements definition and clarification
Produce end-user analysis artefacts – functional specifications;
Identify logical data model optimization / cleansing / improvement opportunities;
Support the migration/implementation activities;
Lead transition and training activities;
Lead and facilitate end-user meeting;
Lead the backlog management process together with the Technical Lead and PM.
Actively part-take in AGILE events
Manage stakeholders, run demos, run usability reviews, work to alleviate project risks
Attend regular scrum meetings, meetings with customer and steering meetings (when requested)
Build trusted relationship with customer, ensure customer needs are addressed properly and timely.

Skills required

Minimum 10 years of experience in BI
Proven working experience in the roles of: BI Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, DPM Designer, BI Specialist, Data Governance Expert.
Technical expertise regarding BI / DWH data modelling and design, data mining, master-data, as well as, metadata management.
Ability to design BI and data analytics logical Data Models, design Reports, Dashboards an advanced Analytics applications.
Ability to design Data Catalogues (including metadata and access management) for internal and external users
Ability to translate business requirements and existing code into non-technical & technical documentation
Experience in methodologies and processes to describe complex data-flows and business transformations
Experience in conceptual design of data models; knowledge of SQL (data definition language) DDL and (data manipulation language) DML
Practical knowledge and understanding of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, ETLs, master- and meta- data management, as well as, Data Quality rules.
Strong knowledge of Data Governance frameworks, knowledge of best practices in Agile BI delivery models (e.g. DAMADMBOK Functional Framework)
Ability to work with stakeholders to assess and mitigate potential risks and to facilitate conflict resolution among stakeholders’ needs.
Experience with Agile delivery models - the backlog and spring planning processes of Agile.
Experience with capturing and documenting user requirements in the form of “User Stories”.
Prepare BI business user related artefacts, and lead transition activities such UAT and Training.
Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (MS PowerBI), relational databases (MS SQL). Knowledge of statistics tools and of SAS is an asset.
Knowledge of Big Data systems and technologies is an asset.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

Salary up to: 500€/day

Other points of the offer

The job is to be performed fully remote with some 2/3 trips to Frankfurt during the full project.
The salary/daily rates presented are the maximum as a freelancer when meeting all criteria.
