The European Commission is looking for an Senior Front-end Developer to join a project at DG COMP.

About this IT position

The European Commission, together with the national competition authorities, directly enforces EU competition rules to make EU markets work better to the benefit of consumers, businesses and the European economy as a whole. The Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) is primarily responsible for these direct enforcement powers.
Modern IT solutions are designed to support business processes with the overall goal of improving efficiency and efficacy.

The IT challenge

o Design and development of front end for web-based applications
o Design and implementation of (micro) REST APIs for the front end
o Consumption of predefined APIs
o Design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software components for web-based applications
o Participate to requirements analysis, prototyping, definition and integration of technological components
o Production of software architecture documents
o Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users.
o Provision of expert advice and assistance, technology watch, architectural considerations, applicable standards, solution patterns and best practices with front-end technologies, web content management, multi-device development etc.

Skills required

o Excellent understanding and development experience in Angular
o Extensive programming experience in HTML5, CSS3, SASS or LESS, and Bootstrap, PrimeNg, Foundation or Materialize
o Excellent Javascript knowledge and programming experience with ES5/ES6
o Very good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
o Very good learning skills
o Capability to write clear and structured technical documents;
o Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills;
o Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment.

Specific Expertise:
o Extensive experience with Angular 4 (and above) and Typescript
o Extensive experience with tools like Redux, Webpack, Angular CLI and/or Gulp
o Extensive experience consuming REST APIs
o Extensive experience with NodeJS
o Experience with OpenId (OIDC) Connect in Angular
o Solid understanding of Angular Security Best Practices
o Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations
o Experience with client-side architecture and design patterns
o Solid understanding and extensive experience with Git version control tool
o Experience with mobile app development frameworks like Ionic or React Native
o Experience in Micro Front End designs
o Experience developing REST APIs

Desirable Expertise
o TDD/BDD experience (Jest, Jasmine, Karma or Chai)
o Experience working with Docker
o Experience with Oracle Relational Database
o Continuous integration: Jenkins, Maven, Bamboo or similar.
o UML modelling

The Working language is English. Very good command of the English language is mandatory.

Location: Brussels, BE

Salary up to: 550€/annual

Currently, all staff is working remotely, but the candidates must be ok to work remotely from Belgium even during COVID.
Belgium permanent employment contract is also one option, with salaries around 3000-3750€ net, when meeting all criteria.
